BOISE!

11.17.09

I made a trip south to visit my friend Jamie in Boise, Id. It was my first time ever actually spending time there, it wasn't the prettiest of places, but the company was amazing. It was a lot like Salt Lake, very spread out, large buildings and mountains.

The first night I was there Jamie and I went to see Where The Wild Things Are, it was such a good movie. I'm quite sure Dodge and Emma would it.

Day 2!
ZOO BOISE :D

Jamie and I made plans to visit Zoo Boise even though it was winter and most of the animals were going to be lazy and not that great. Before we left we ran into one of Jamies friends Guilia and we let her know where we were heading, she asked us "do zoo's even have lions in them?"

First stop: The Lions Den

As we walked around we came across the Lions Den and this lion, which we dubbed "scar" (Lion King), was right up against the window. So these pictures are for Guilia.

Jamie made great friends with him, but when I got down close to the glass, he swiped his paw as though he was going to slap me or something.
We waited there for about 15 min just to get a really good picture of him yawning.

If you ever have the opportunity to go to Zoo Boise, you'll find that its a great Zoo because you learn soo much while you're there. These were a few of mine and Jamie's signs.
Help Fertilize
Hey, who would've thought that cell phones are a global thing in the 21st century?

So educational.

Across the way from the Lions Den was where they Giraffes and the Zebras were. Well, the Zebras weren't up for a show, but Giraffes came out.

Llamas! I don't know why, but I just love these animals.
There was also a black bear. He has this awesome V Neck...like he was wearing a V-Neck sweater.

We came across this snow leopard and I remembered mom having a fur coat and I mentioned to it how the leopard looked just like moms coat, pretty sure the leopard would've attacked me if possible.

This was one of my favorites! I named him Balthazar, like the super mario character...not Joey our old turtle that Craig put on the counter.

They even had a Komodo Dragon

The penguins started singing so we had to go see them. They were adorable as they waddled around.

Each one of them had tags on their flippers so you could identify them on a wall inside.

There were a lot more animals that we saw like a Bald Eagle, Monkeys, Meerkats, Lemurs and a few others. We went into the gift and spent some time in there just reading some books because we came across "Everyone Poops" and he had never read it so we had to take the time.
It was such an enjoyable day at the Zoo.
After that we were on a mission to get lunch at his usual spot and to find out the name of the lady that always makes his "usual" sandwhich because he forgot it. The plan worked and the food was delicious.
Overall, I had such a great time in Boise.

Happy Halloween!

While in Utah, at the Halloween store, I saw the absolute perfect costume for Kooper, the title read: Big Daddy. I bought it and brought it home waiting to put it the test...

It took a couple of times to get is little legs thru the holes...but we managed.

I don't believe he was as happy with my decision in costume as I was.

Especially with the hat portion...

But I totally loved it!
Happy Halloween!

Concert night

Well, Jamie invited me to a concert downtown on the 30th of October to see and help him promote a local band he manages. It was supposed to be a halloween show...well it was, but I didn't dress up. No time. I had an amazing idea to be a Jetson character.

A few of the band members that we had helped to get ready.

It was the end of the night, and Jamie's makeup had ran but his raccoon costume nonetheless was awesome. We had went for a walk and to see if people could guess what he was, either raccoon or some robber guy, was incredibly funny. We got a lot of double takes and stares.

A Night of Hope

Last week my dear friend, Jamie Ketchum, invited me to have the opportunity to listen to Jamie Tworkowski, the founder of To Write Love on Her Arms, speak at a college auditorium in the Salem, Or area. I've been a follower and fan so to say of TWLOHA for quite some time now.

To Write Love on Her arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.
Jamie K. used to intern for TWLOHA and so therefore knew Jamie T. Well, Jamie introduced me to Jamie from TWLOHA and needless to say he is a very remarkable guy.

Serendipity...It's all in the name

I got the peanut butter frozzzen hot chocolate. It was...so delicious. They put Reeses peanut butter cups in it, so you would get like a reeses surprise.
This is what it looked like right before I ate just about all of it. They gave me two straws, I didn't ask for two. But that's ok. I was cool with it.

This is Emma and I before we sat down to get our dessert.

The very first time I ever went to Serendipity was in New York, oh how tasty it was. Well, this time before I went home we stopped at Serendipity3 in Las Vegas and it was just as tasty.

Hello, Utah. :]

It's been a while since I've blogged. Shame on me. I know...now that that's over, updates!...but one at a time of course.

Seeing as it is now November 1st, last month I went to Utah to see my family and had the most wonderful time. It had been way too long. Unfortunately, I didn't get pictures of when I was actually in Utah except the day I left to go back home.

My mom and I had such a great time...lots of shopping, and we all finally (lots of emphases on finally) met Clarence, Man or Mansfield, for family dinner on Tuesday. In my moms words he has that accent like they all have. But he was a sweet guy.

I saw Craig, I love Craig, he was...a riot as expected but that's why we love him. :]

Emma...well, ever since I got there Emma wanted me to meet Bella. The last day I was there we made a stop at her house (which is gorgeous by the way) so I could meet Bella. (Bella has way too much energy for her own good.

We then stopped at In N Out...and it was good.

Making Smores...well, attempting to atleast.

At work today I had a brilliant idea, it basically went something like this..."I'm going to make smores tonight, and they're going to be amazing." Well, finally after I got off work, went home and changed, Michelle (my roommate) and I went to the store to pick up some wood, graham crackers, marshmallows, and of course...Chocolate. So, about an hour after getting home I decided to make the fire...needless to say, I epically failed since I set off the fire alarm on the first try. It took Michelle and I about another hour, a notebook and a half of paper, and several attempts with hairspray to somehow ignite a fire, to actually create one. It was a whimpy fire to say the least. In the end though, I hade my smore dang it...and it was delicious.

For the past month or so I've been trying to get Kooper to jump off of my bed...well successes, he finally did and got a sock for a prize. As for other news...I got an email that said I was accepted into Clark College. Hooray!

Joining the Johnson/Serafine family trend....

Well, I've officially joined the revolution that is blogspot.com. It'll be nice to keep in touch on a closer level with my family that is well, everywhere. Ever since I've moved to the Pacific NW in February it seems as though I've been out of touch with those closest to me, and I don't care for that all that much.

So for a quick catch up...I moved to Portland, Or. I loved it. The atmosphere and vibe was completely different than that of St. George.

I was able to transfer my job to a store in Vancouver, Wa. The drive was only about 15 minutes...on a good traffic day.

I moved to Vancouver about 3 months ago. Needless to say, I still love it. The vibe is a little bit different than Portland...less um, enviromentaly friendly and "hippiesh" so to say. But still amazing and relaxed.

I'm living with an amazing friend from work...Michelle (yes, that would make 3 Michelles in my life at this point) and her boyfriend, Ian. I'm very blessed to have met them under the circumstances that had taken place....they're a riot.

As for anything else new that has happened...I have a puppy...Kooper. He's a stud, but a handful for sure. I got him at 10 weeks old on July 8th.
